Corporate Transformation

Change is doing things differently. Transformation is a new way of being.

The foundations of performance excellence depend on a variety of things happening simultaneously.

These “things” ultimately fit into three key categories – or what we call the central pillars of success – people, process & technology.

As in a great concert, the quality of the performance lies in the combination of the score, the orchestra members, the instruments and the conductor.

Our specialisation is in identifying the missing links and designing solutions and interventions that will return the workplace to efficiency, high productivity and where people have pride and belonging.

Change evolves and devolves – it is an event that has a beginning and end; you find your way back through workarounds.

Transformation is dimensional – there is no going back but going to further depth, and it keeps going.

People

The Hearts and Minds

diamond impact the people

Transformational change “transforms” an organisation. It means there is new order, that the old world is gone – not to return. A new order and a new way is installed.

People are THE integral component in successful change. They are the heartbeat, the oxygen and the passion of your business, and they turn strategy into action by “humanising” the process. Your people make it work by creating the new culture and driving the reform.

Invite People to the New World

The speed of adaption to change requires a high level of trust. And to gain trust, people need to be involved and feel valued. This is also true during any transformation process which causes disorientation, anxiety, shock and even exhilaration. The leaders of the transformation have already processd much of the information and participated in the decision making process. The balance of the workforce will be required to receive, respond and adapt in a shorter timeframe and with less involvement. They are the principle adapters and the largest stakeholder group – and you require their quick and complete “buy-in”.

Process

Who, How, What, When, Why

diamond impact the process

When processes become misaligned staff feel frustrated and often need to work-around the existing process to get things done and work units become the brunt of negativity for non-delivery or slow response times. We see this often in our work, and are called in to identify and map out process relationships to correctly identify where and how to focus redesign efforts.

Defining and aligning the process requires a systematic approach to map the process, yet more importantly to engage stakeholders setting out the current practices, identifying duplication and inefficiencies and being clear on the future processes.

We understand the people sensitivities and impact in the process redesign. If staff don’t understand the rationale behind the new process, know what to do or where to get information from them, often the inefficiencies continue, although may be evident elsewhere (it can be a bit like plugging the hole in the dyke!).

We work with key stakeholders and process owners to develop communications and learning material that supports understanding of the new process and ultimately successful use.

Technology

The Enabler

diamond impact technology

Technology is the great enabler of businesses. It has allowed small businesses to complete on the international stage and has given a voice and opportunity to the previously unheard. The technology rich global environment is also transforming how businesses do business. The pace and sophistication of development is forcing rapid and widespread upgrades of internal systems, processes, knowledge management and security – to name but a few. It is driving greater competition, forcing business to reinvent stakeholder communication, and challenging product and service distribution.

Technology has the known capacity to improve data collection, storage and retrieval. But it also has other powerful applications. New technology and enterprise systems are providing opportunities for greater operational efficiencies that transform processes to be more effective.

Technology solutions can also be used to deliver e-learning and to underpin the individual employee’s career aspirations such as developing new skills, retraining, working remotely or having a mobile global role.

The new technology order is also dictating the level of technology skills and aptitude required for business participants.

Technology supports reform and change. It allows for greater accuracy in tracking and quantifying success and in pinpointing opportunities for improvement.
